Betty Jean Hopson's Obituary
Betty Jean Hopson, 84, passed away on March 7, 2015 in Tacoma, WA. She was born on October 23, 1930 in St. Maries, Idaho to Noah and Nellie (Tracey) Adey.
Betty lived most of her life in the Tacoma area and 25 years in Yakima where she worked at JC Penny in the Men’s Department and retired in 1992. Betty could size a man’s suit perfectly just by giving him the once over. She loved her husbands, kids, and family; clam digging, camping, cooking, growing her favorite vegetables, dahlia’s, and raspberries, all animals, ‘especially her dogs’; and known for telling stories about all these things she loved. She enjoyed her travels to Mexico, Hawaii, and RV’ing across the United States with husband Charles (Chick) Hopson and spent several winters in Arizona where she enjoyed visiting Casinos and game nights with family and friends. Betty (Pister) renewed her faith in the Catholic Church and was re-baptized at Our Lady of Lourdes, Selah, Washington. For many years Betty (Hopson) was an active member of Women’s Auxiliary of Lakewood Elks Club; and 8 years ago Betty became a Breast Cancer survivor and participated in a medical trial to find a cure.
Betty is survived by her children Donna Emig, Gary Marshall and Kathleen (husband Roger) Vater; and stepson Chuck (wife Sherrie) Hopson; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was also known by marriage to the families of Marshall, Zerr, and Pister, all (husbands) whom preceded her in death.
We will miss her dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm, Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Mountain View Aspen Chapel.
