Betty Jane Hansch's Obituary
Mom was born February 9, 1926 to Frank and Ida Thompson in Tacoma, Washington. She went to be with the Lord, her husband Bill and son Ed on September 24, 2018.
Mom was extremely close to her father, working on her car or helping him build small boats. She was a graduate of Stadium High School in Tacoma. Mom married William Hansch on June 26, 1945. They were married 57 years until his passing in May 2003. They had three children, Billie, Mike and Ed.
Mom’s life revolved around her family. While her husband Bill concentrated on providing for the family through his job at the Heidelberg Brewery, Mom’s focus was the kids. Both were totally into family. They had a beach home in Victor where they spent countless weekends with family and friends.
Once the kids left the nest, they became very active in The Elks. After Dad’s passing, Mom stayed in their home on Point Fosdick in Gig Harbor until she suffered a stroke. She spent the last five years at Narrows Glen Retirement Center.
Mom is survived by her daughter Billie Olsen (Bill), son Mike (Elaine) and seven grandchildren: Dan Olsen, Jeff Olsen (Karen), Camille Wade (Keith), Nick Hansch, Greg Hansch (Marie), Eddie Hansch and Evan Hansch; and eight great-grandchildren: Cody Olsen (Rena), Riley Olsen, Grant Olsen, Wyatt Olsen, Aubrey Wade, Tegan Wade, Addie Hansch and Langley Wade; and sister-in-law Dorothy Barefield and nephew William Barefield (Celinda).
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Garden Chapel, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd, SW in Lakewood. The gravesite is at 12:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the Celebration of Life Center Building, Willow Room.
