Betty Garlinger's Obituary
Betty Margaret Miller Garlinger Betty was born Nov. 5, 1925 in London, England. She married William "Bill" Edward Miller at East Dereham Baptist Church in East Dereham, Norwich, England on March 20, 1946. She married Howard Garlinger on Sept. 15, 1989 at Central Baptist Church in University Place. Betty died Tuesday, Feb. 25. She was 88. A devoted disciple of Jesus Christ, she spent her life pointing others heavenward. She never gave up on people. She enjoyed reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, anything lemon flavored, and, most of all, being with her family and friends. A service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 1 p.m. March 8 at Central The Church on the Hill, 5000 67th Ave W, University Place, Washington. She grew up in Norwich, England. It was there that she met her best friend, Dorothy Jaramillo, who now lives in Fircrest. The two friends have been together since they were teenagers working in a house and shop in England. During World War II, Betty worked on a lathe making nuts and bolts for bomb carriers at a factory named Hobbies. A girl from the factory didn't want to go alone on a date, so she brought Betty along. Betty's blind date was an American serviceman named Bill Miller. The couple would go on to live in Germany, Georgia, West Virginia, California and Tacoma. They raised two children, and were together 39 years until his death Nov. 11, 1985. Survivors include her husband Howard Garlinger, her children Brad Miller and his wife Marilyn, and Sandra Wojahn and her husband Mark, grandchildren Karen Miller, Lauren Thompson and her husband Will, Grant Wojahn and his wife Addie, and Rian Wojahn, and great-grandchildren Ava and Leo Wojahn.
