Betty Caroline (Izett) Haley
April 3, 1922 - January 31, 2009 Betty was born in Oak Harbor, WA, the daughter of Carl and Vera Izett. She graduated from Colfax HS, attended WSC, worked as a telephone operator, and in September, 1942, married Howard Haley. After moving to Lakewood in 1957 she was active in the local AFS, placing and hosting several foreign exchange students. She was involved with the Lakes Festival committees, several Villa Plaza promotions and events, and the beginnings of the Lakewood Methodist Church. She loved to travel and played lots of golf. Betty was known for her quick wit, her very correct social and linguistic skills and her appreciation of the arts. Her friends were friends for life. She is survived by her four children, Judy (Howard) Nettleton of Yelm, WA; Mick Haley of Vancouver, WA; Dennis (Marge) Haley of Rogue River, OR; and Jim (Bobbe) Haley of Olympia, WA; a brother, Jim (Lois)EIzett of Oakridge, OR; and sisters Virginia (Brick) Leever of Everett, WA and Helen (Jack) Odell of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A family service will be held in her honor. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation. "Mom, Thank you for the music."
