Betty Marie Bain's Obituary
The family of Betty M. Bain is sad to announce her passing on May 11, 2021. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn L. Graf, grandson Michael C. Wemmer, and granddaughter Lori M. Smith. Betty was born in Portland, Oregon on October 29, 1926 to Clara and Arthur Strom. She was united in Holy Matrimony to Herbert Hemenway Bain on March 6, 1946. They were blessed with three children, Carolyn, Christine, and Robert. Betty and Herb built a beautiful and active life together. Herb preceded Betty in death on January 4, 2007.
After growing up in Portland, OR Betty met Herb and kept a busy household with 3 children. She was an active member of the Lutheran Choir, she was involved in Jobs Daughters and spent many wonderful Summers at their family beach house in Ocean Park, WA where her parents built the "Little Green Cabin" that so many of her family members still to this day enjoy.
Betty was an active member of both Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood, WA and Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California. Betty was active in both women's golf and played a big part in junior golf as she was a strong advocate for her grandchildren learning to play and love the sport she so dearly enjoyed. She loved spending time playing bunco with her gal pals and was a brilliant host whenever asked. Betty was truly the life of the party.
Betty will forever be loved and missed in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; daughter Christine Wemmer (Daniel), son Robert Bain (Leslie) and son-in-law Douglas Graf, Grandchildren, Wendy Byrd (Casey), Marty Graf (Jen) Julie Stacy (Shane), Cindy Buckmaster (Jake), Tiffany Forbes (Justin), Kristin Bain and Carrie Harvey. Betty had twelve great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Molly, Amelia, William, Wesley, Michael, Maxx, Jackson, Savannah, Haley, Emily, and Brooklyn. She is also survived by special family friend Grandma Elaine Osage.
