Beryl M. Braunsteiner's Obituary
Beryl was born to O.L Potter and Sarah Granger Potter on July 1, 1917. She passed February 14, 2021. She was 103 years old.
Beryl graduated high school I Yakima then went to work at Kress Department store. She followed that working in fruit packing. She married H. F. DesVoigne in 1937 and moved to Tacoma. They had two children.
She began working at Ben Dews when it was a deli downtown. Shen the restaurant moved to Sixth Ave she went with it. She was a longtime valued employee.
She remarried Helmut “Brownie” Braunsteiner in 1956 and travelled with him on two tours of duty. The first was Panama Canal Zone and the second was Berlin when the wall went up. He was fluent in German. Every time she returned back to Tacoma, she would go to work for Dewey at Ben Dews.
Beryl was a lifetime member of the VFW Wild West Post 91. She was also a member of Tacoma Lions Southeast. She volunteered at Diabetes Association of Pierce County, an organization that concentrates on service Pierce County only. She was also honored by the State of Washington for never missing an election in fifty years.
Beryl was preceded by her husband Helmut Franz Braunsteiner “Brownie” in 2002.
Beryl is survived by a son, Mark DesVoigne of Oak Harbor, WA, a daughter Donna J. Evans of San Diego, CA and a stepson, Ronald P. Braunsteiner of Vienna, Austria. She leaves behind five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
