I was touched to see Mr. Woodley's published obituary today. It struck me as representative of all the forgotten homeless and near-homeless people in our society. They may seem to be invisible, but inevitably they form a backdrop to our daily lives when we see them in passing on the street. Just like Mr. Woodley, they deserve dignity, perhaps something they did not get to enjoy during their lives. Rest in peace.##imported-begin##Deborah##imported-end##
While I was director of Tacoma Rescue Mission, we were pleased to have Mr. Woodley becoma a resident of our Colonial Square Apartments. A man of few words, he did get in the habit of conversing some with his neighbors and the staff, and he did start wearing shoes too. We enjoyed giving Berniel a home and getting to know him.
