Bernice L. Miskoski's Obituary
Bernice L. Miskoski of University Place, passed away July 24, 2015 In Tacoma, WA. She was born in Tacoma May 19, 1916, to Warren and Anna Elfberg Speaks. Bernice graduated from Lincoln High School in 1933 and from Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing in 1937. Her career included hospital work, private-duty nursing, and employment in a physician’s clinic. At the time of her retirement in 1975, she had spent many years as school nurse for the Steilacoom School District. She was preceded in death by husband Stanley Miskoski, sister Dorothy Pedersen, and brother Robert Speaks. Bernice is survived by daughters Andrea Currie of Kennewick, Stephanie Loften and husband Bruce of Shelton, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bernice loved family, church, quilting, reading, and Mariners baseball. A memorial service will be held at Mount Cross Lutheran Church, 8902 40th St W, University Place, at 1:00PM August 1. In lieu of flowers, Bernice requested that donations be given to Mount Cross Lutheran Church or Franciscan Hospice.
