A bright, loving light went out in the world on the 6th of July when Bernice passed away. Bernice was born to Arthur L. Olson and Anna C. Olson on February 2, 1921, in Calvin, ND. Bernice's parents moved to Tacoma, WA in 1934. Bernice graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma. She worked as a bookkeeper at Harmon Furniture. Bernice married her beloved husband, Frisco Burnett (pro bowler), in 1940. Bernice's interests were spending time with her loving family and she also loved to bowl. Bernice also had a deep love and appreciation for music, including big band music and accomplished jazz artists. Bernice, Frisco and young daughter Elizabeth moved to Portland, OR in 1959. Bernice worked for Marco Investment Company as a bookkeeper for over forty years. Bernice moved back to Tacoma in early 2005, where she lived at the Clare Bridge Memory Care Center, and to be closer to her brother Raymond A. Olson (Dolores). Bernice is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Burnett of Puyallup, WA, her brother Raymond A. Olson (Dolores) of University Place, WA, her brother-in-law Ralph Burnett (Wally) of Tacoma, WA; she also has two grandchildren, Anthony Marez, Vancouver, WA and Kevin Marez, San Diego, CA, two great-grandchildren, Lavin A. Marez of Los Angeles, CA, and Jordan Marez of Tacoma, WA, special friends Sylvia Clouse (Dick) and Marlene Saunders (Tom). Bernice was preceded in death by her husband, Frisco Burnett, in 1962, daughter Elouise Marez in 1998, granddaughter Valerie J. Marez in 2003, and grandson John Binder in 2005. A private interment was held on 7/13/2009, at Mountain View Funeral Home Memorial Park and Crematory in Lakewood, WA. There will be a celebration of Bernice's life at the Clouse home at 10435 10th Ave. Ct. S., in Tacoma, WA, on Saturday, August 8, 2009, from 1:00 - 4:00 pm. The family suggests memorials may be made in her name to the MultiCare-Good Samaritan Home Health and Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association . Arrangements made by Mountain View Funeral Home Memorial Park and Crematory.
