Benjamin Palafox's Obituary
CSM, Benjamin V. Palafox, Retired
Benjamin Vares Palafox was born on May 3, 1933, in Wailuku, Maui. In November 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Oinah “Boobie” Akee, and together they raised six children. He proudly served 30 years in the United States Army, and retired in 1985 as a Command Sergeant Major. Following his military service, he worked in Civil Service as a plumber. Benjamin was a devout Catholic and enjoyed gardening, golfing, and watching sports on TV. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Oinah Palafox; his parents, Agapito and Cecilia Palafox; his brother Conrad Palafox; and his brother in-law, Daniel Pokipala.
Benjamin is survived by his sisters, Josephine Pokipala and Rita Palafox; sister in-law, Elsie Palafox; children Cecilia Valentin (Landy), Benjamin Palafox (Suwana), Keith Palafox (Rosalie), Gilbert Palafox (Dorris), Scott Palafox (Janie), and Damien Palafox (Angie); along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at the Mountain View Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31st, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm. Funeral Services will be at the Aspen Chapel on Friday, August 1st, at 9:00am.
