Hi, Sorry this is very belated, but I just now found out. I remember Ben very well from the time we were in Wayland, always a good friend. I remeber once, when we were seniors, he and I took a ride in the Thunderbird. We seemed to be going quite fast (he was frustrated at something) and I asked him what the speedometer read when the needle was at 3 O'clock. He said 103! Katy- Ann Reynolds is doing well, I saw her at her mom's 80th birthday party last year. Julie- Barbara is just the same as always. I knew Ben in High School. We are approaching our 40th reunion and I have been making an effort to contact anyone I can research. I was very sorry to hear that Ben had passed. His picture shows that he maintained his good humor and that infectious smile. I knew Ben since 1978 when I went to UMass Amherst for a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. We were in the same program of wind energy and were sitting together and near each other in the same classes. I got to meet his wife and baby boy. I left UMass in 1979 to go to MIT. Ben joined MIT in 1980, again in the same program as mine. We graduated together with doctorates in 1985. He went his way and I went mine. In 2006, after I moved to London, UK, I was contacted by Ben, who found out I was living there, as he was planning a visit to Cambridge, UK, to give a talk. He stayed in my house for a couple of nights. My wife and kids were fortunate to meet him. They fell in love with his wonderful personality and have asked me about him frequently. I just found out that Ben passed away and, unfortunately, will have to give the sad news to my family. Ben will be missed not only by his family and friends in the US, but around the world as well. Dear Katherine and John,
I knew your father in Paris. In fact, I did your mother's will and handled her probate. That is how I met Ben. He occasionally had dinner with my husband and me. It was always so enjoyable. He was interesting and so smart. WE occasionally talked about parenting as he really missed your mother's input.

I think I met you one time in Kroger's! I wanted you to know he loved you both very much. He was a very special man and I'm sad to learn we have lost him.

It was a pleasure to work and talk occasionally over the years with Benjamin. I recall his expressed joy at the family music-making in his home. . Benjamin's welcoming smile and humor were a gift to the workplace. I am saddened, but thankful that the ultimate Joy is his now. My heartfelt condolences go to Benjamin's family, especially his son and daughter. I have known Benjamin for many years at Weyerhaeuser. He was actually my manager for a time in the old Fiber Sciences Department and I had the distinct pleasure of working for him and with him. Needless to say I always felt awed at the reasoning and thinking ability he had. Benjamin prided himself on his ability to study and understand complex issues and he delighted in sharing his gift with others. Many things about him, his sense of humor, his booming laugh and his care and concern for others earned him respect and honor from everyone. There was only one Benjamin Donner. He was as unique as we was talented. He surely leaves a void by his passing.
