Beatrice Marie Rancher Harris' Obituary
Bea, as she was known, was born in Delhi, Louisiana on August 11, 1937 to Robert Rancher & Ella (Etta) Horton. She was called home to the Lord on December 24, 2017.
She is preceded in death by her three brothers, Obie, Robert, and Herman and four sisters, Ella Dolores, Elizabeth, Jewellee, and Herbie Jean. She has a host of brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Harjas Preston Lee Harris Jr. on December 6, 2008. They were married in Reno, Nevada on December 19, 1958. She has four children, Karen Ann, Tina Louise, Preston Lee Jr. III (deceased) and Christopher Michael and stepson Victor Gerald (deceased). She has a daughter-in-law Elizabeth (Lisa) Harris, grandson-in-law Eric Hielscher and her very special friend and beloved companion Jesse Jones of Eutaw, Alabama.
She has 10 grandchildren Tamika, Ebony, Latasha, Kristina, Katrina, Stephen, Seth, Collette, Franchesca (deceased), and Veronique. She has 7 great-grandchildren Ahmarie, Brianna, Tatianna, Jeremiah (deceased), Kiarra, Preston and Isabelle.
After raising her family, Bea went on to have a 28 year career with AAFES, The Army & Airforce Exchange Service. Over the years, Bea volunteered for the Red Cross, participated actively in the church, and sang in the church choir. Her cooking skills unparalleled, she could be found serving up seafood gumbo and love to her family.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, January 9, from 10-8pm at Mountain View Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place in the Garden Chapel at 1pm on Wednesday, January 10, followed by a reception.
