Beatrice J. Olsen's Obituary
Betty was born October 17, 1925 in Yakima, WA to Rev. Robert and Ellen Kroodsma. She passed peacefully on to her heavenly home on June 18, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was a 1943 Stadium High School graduate and went on to attend Biola College in Los Angeles. She worked as a cafeteria assistant in the Tacoma School District. She also volunteered at the Lighthouse Senior Center and Crisis Pregnancy Center. Betty was a longtime member of the Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church, where she participated in the choir, Sunday School, and Ladies' Group meetings. Betty enjoyed gardening, working with flowers and making arrangements for her church. Betty met her sweetheart, Wilber Olsen, while washing dishes at a church function. Together they raised three children and enjoyed many happy times in their 42 years of marriage before Wilber's death in 1989. Betty is survived by her two daughters, Susan Padgett and Nancy (Chuck) Teahan, daughter-in-law Deborah Olsen, grandchildren Darcy Olsen, Alissa Padgett, Dana (Chad) Isenberger, Amanda (Andrew) Fisher, Nathan Teahan, Courtney Padgett and Rachel Teahan, one great-grandson, Wesley Isenberger, brothers Robert (Phyllis) Kroodsma and Gordon (Marjorie) Kroodsma, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Wilber Olsen and her son Alan Olsen. A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church, 5 South G Street, Tacoma. The family requests donation be made to the Tacoma Bible Presbyterian Church in Betty's name. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints."
