Barbara Jean Webster's Obituary
Barbara Jean Webster (nee Keplinger), passed peacefully 5.23.2015, at the age of 96 in Tacoma, Washington. As she often said-- Boy, I never thought I'd live so long!!
It is fair to say--She lived a long and full life.
Mr & Mrs Keplinger, Sr. welcomed baby Barbara Jean into this world May 20, 1919 after a 10 month pregnancy! Her arrival signaled to everyone, she was determined to get here when she was darn good and ready ...(and one could argue that is exactly the way she lived her life)!
Barbara was a musically gifted child. She followed in her musical parents footstep (her mother had an orchestra and gave piano lessons and father played the trombone during the depression). By the age of 7 and through out her teens, she sang professionally on the radio.
In 1942 she joined the army. This is where she met and married Harry D. Webster, the love of her life. They were married for 31 years and raised their two children. Harry passed away in 1975. She never remarried.
Barbara Jean was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an avid outdoors woman, lover of nature. In 1979 she lead an expedition for the family and friends, to Mt. Rainier Ice Caves. She knew this was to be one of the last times anyone could go into the ice caves.
In 1980, Barbara Jean hit the road again, by herself, against the warnings of the powers that be, to see the once in a lifetime event of Mt. Saint Helens explosion. As others were fleeing, she drove into the chaos. She got over the bridge just before they quit letting people pass.
From 1983 to 1993 Barbara Jean cared for her 4 grand kids cooking dinner, taking them to various events which included the pool in the summer, many excursion and adventures to Orcas Island, Kalaloch Beach, and filling them with many many yummy cupcake and strawberry scone treats.
In 2000 Barbara Jean hung up her car keys , moved to what she called "Wrinkle City" (Life Manor) and started to ride "the wrinkle bus". Her traveling days were winding down.
Barbara Jean's final trip is Heaven bound where she will be reunited with all of those people she loved who have gone before her.
She is survived by son, Michael R. Webster (PeggyRose) and daughter , Nancy M. Rahn (nee Webster) (Tom). Grandchildren- Lyla (John) Morris, Britteny Webster, Burton (Brooke) Webster
