Barbara P. Pruitt
Barbara passed away peacefully in her home on February 27, 2018. She was born June 17, 1921 in Selah, Washington.
After attending nine different schools in Washington and Montana, she graduated from Clover Park High School in 1940 and briefly attended the University of Washington. She retired from McChord Air Force Base as a civil service employee and lived in the Lakewood area since 1949.
Barbara was a member of Little Church on the Prairie, Tacoma Country and Golf Club, the American Contract Bridge Association, Tacoma Pierce County Computer Users Group, Lakewood Republican Women and Clover Park's Ancient Warriors. During her years she enjoyed bridge, golf, quilting with the Lakewood Lutheran Church and taking sewing classes at Bates Technical College.
She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Eric Wightman, Sr. of Yakima, her mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred Cooke of Olympia and Lake Havasu, AZ, by her husband Andrew Pruitt, her son James Pruitt of Olympia and her brother Eric F. Wightman, Jr. of Olympia. Barbara is survived by her grandsons Shad Pruitt (Kathy) of Olympia and Brian Pruitt (Jody) of Cloverdale, CA and her four great-grandchildren; Justin, Cole, Amanda and Jacob. Barbara wanted to thank her many friends that made her retirement years so very rewarding.
There will be no funeral or memorial service at her request.
