Barbara Irvin's Obituary
Barbara Lee Irvin passed away peacefully on May 31, 2016 at 8:03 pm from complications of Alzheimer’s disease in her Lacey home surrounded by family. This was her one wish to be in the comfort of her own home with family at her side. She was born to parents Arthur Furnish and Edith Bright on May 31, 1932 in Falls City, Oregon.
Barbara married Glenn Irvin on May 2, 1953 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. She supported Glenn’s military career, moving throughout the United States and Europe. She was a pillar of strength for her family while her husband served his country in combat. Throughout life, her enduring spirit of generosity shined as she gave freely her time, energy and resources in her church and community. She worked various jobs throughout her life but none was as important to her as being a wife and mother.
Her loving husband Glenn survives Barbara, along with her three children Glenda, Kevin and Diane. She has five grandchildren Amber, Kerensa, Gonzalo, Joaquin, and Lorenzo; and two great grandchildren Ashton and Zachary. Her surviving brother Halven Furnish lives in Salem, Oregon and Barbara’s oldest brother Donald Furnish died at Pearl Harbor in 1944.
Family graveside service held on June 10, 2016 at 12:30 with Pastor Del Scrivner officiating. Memorial service immediately to follow at 1:00 pm in the Oak room at Mountain View Funeral Home.
Family would like to give appreciation to the staff at Providence Hospice and Advanced Health Care for all the loving care provided during Barbara’s last two years of life. In lieu of flowers, family requests all gifts to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association to find a cure to this debilitating disease that robs families of their loved ones.
