Barbara Jean Franklin's Obituary
Barbara Franklin, 75, passed away on November 11, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, WA.
Barbara was born on December 19, 1947, in Monroe, Georgia, she worked in the healthcare field for many years before retiring. She was married to Albert Franklin for 37 years and had two children, Darryl and Tabitha. She was an amazing Nana who loved spending time with grandkids and was always willing to babysit. Her grandkids were her life.
When she wasn’t with the grandkids, she was very active with the I.B.P.O.E Elks Lodge #180, serving as the Grand Daughter Ruler of Lily’s of the Northwest. They served the community- feeding the homeless, providing school items for kids, distributing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for those in need, providing Christmas gifts to families, and other calls to duty.
Barbara was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, and she would give you the shirt off her back if she knew that you needed it. She had a Firey spirit, which is why many knew her as “Big Red” but a heart of gold and was one of the most authentic people you could ever meet.
She is survived by her 2 children, Darryl and Tabitha, and her life partner Charles James and his son Stanley and their grandkids Jordan, Jared, Tyler, Josiah, Lily, Carson, and Bennett, and her two fur grandbabies Thor and Moose (AKA Baby dog).
