Barbara Boekholt's Obituary
Barbara M. Boekholt Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend was born in Tacoma, Washington on February 1, 1927, and peacefully passed away in Tacoma on February 4, 2012 with her family by her side. She was 85. Barbara moved to Blackburn, England with her British parents as a 2-year-old, and lived there until 1947, when they returned to Tacoma via the HMS Queen Mary. She married Conrad Boekholt in 1950 and they enjoyed a 59-year marriage until his death in 2010. As a young family they enjoyed many tent and trailer camping vacations over the years. In their retirement years they loved to travel, and especially enjoyed the many cruises they took. Barbara was employed for many years as the office manager for Plastic Surgeons Northwest and she was proud of her six years as a Hospice volunteer from 1999 to 2005. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Conrad, her son Derek, her sister Joan, her brother Roy, and her parents. Surviving are her son John (Julie) and daughter Julie Harding. Also surviving are 5 grandsons and one granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012 at First Congregational Church, 918 Division Ave., Tacoma, WA 98403, to be followed by a reception at the same location.
