Barbara Ann Sproge's Obituary
Barbara Ann Sproge passed away peacefully at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Lacey, WA with her loving husband at her side, on Saturday evening, February 18, 2006, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer.Born September 23, 1938 in Tacoma, WA to the late Ray and Mary Davey. She graduated from Stadium High School Â"Class of 56Â". She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Jerry on October 24, 1958.Barb was at her best as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She also worked several years at Chet & JackÂ's Fuel Oil Company in Tacoma and WeyerhaeuserÂ's Marketing Research Division in Federal Way.She enjoyed years of boating on Puget Sound with her family and friends and is a Past First Mate of the Fircrest Yacht Club.Her artistic talent complemented her many interests including crocheting, knitting, and cooking up a storm for 2 or 500 people. Sewing was a passion, from Halloween costumes to clothes for her grandchildren. She designed and produced commercial quality stunt kites, and later became an avid quilter.Barb and Jerry moved to the Washington Land Yacht Harbor in Lacey, WA in 1994. They enjoyed over eleven years living the Airstream way of life while traveling throughout the United States and Canada in their Airstream Land Yacht. Barb was a Past Corresponding Secretary and First Lady of the Washington Unit of the Airstream Owners Association International.Barb is survived by her husband of 47 years Jerome Richard, her sons Rory Jay, Jeffrey Ray, Curtis Lee & wife Kim Marie; three grandchildren Zachary Richard, Abagail Ruth, and Isabelle Sonoma; sister Patricia Davey, and brother Michael Davey. She is further survived by special friends Dick, Mary, Jill and Ann Genske and many other wonderful friends.The celebration of BarbÂ's life is at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2006 in Harmony Hall at the Washington Land Yacht Harbor on Fleming Way, located at 9101 Steilacoom Rd. SE, Lacey, WA 98513.In lieu of flowers, the family encourages a donation to the American Cancer Society.The family would like to extend their eternal gratitude to the amazingly compassionate and competent staff of nurses and physicians that cared for her at the Western Washington Oncology Center, Olympia Orthopedic Associates and Providence St. Peter Hospital.Internment at Mountain View Memorial park in Tacoma.
