Avis Prater, Joe, was born December 10, 1914 in Redtop, Missouri. He passed away at Good Samaritan at 6:00P.M. on July 30, 2009 at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife Clarice Prater. He is survived by his son David F. Prater and his wife Carma Lea Prater. Joe has two grandsons, David and Donald. He served in the Navy for 27 years and was in thirteen major war engagements. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. He was also a Pearl Harbor survivor and served on the U.S.S. Nevada. Joe retired from the Navy in 1966 and worked at St. Elizabeths for 10 years in Oakland, California. He is a lifetime member of the ElksE#174 and the V.F.W. His favorite song is "God Bless America." At Joe's request, there will be no service.
