Avery Hayden Huffman's Obituary
On February 16, 2016, Avery Hayden Huffman, 7, peacefully and with her family by her side, went to heaven to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Avery fought with strength, she fought with courage, she fought with bravery, she fought with grace and she fought with love. She taught her mother and father, her brother and sisters, her grandparents, her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, what courage and bravery looks like. She showed thousands, even millions of people, what love, what compassion and what strength truly is. She was #AveryStrong.
Avery lit up a room as soon as she walked into it. Her personality, compassion and her heart radiated wherever she was. She loved to have fun, to play with her brother and sisters, her cousins and her friends. There were few things she liked to do more than playing with her dog Coco and her rabbit Hoppy Jumpy. She enjoyed swimming, baking, singing, dancing, doing artwork, eating pizza and having beach parties. She had a heart to give and help others and made everyone feel instantly like they were her best friend.
Avery was born on October 19, 2008 in Tacoma, Washington and grew up in Auburn, Washington.
Avery attended Lakeland Hills Elementary School in Auburn and was in first grade, attending school daily even while battling Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), which she was first diagnosed with in June 2015.
Avery attended Grace Community Church in Auburn and was an active participant in the children’s ministry at Grace.
Avery is survived by her mother and father, Amanda and Brandon Huffman of Auburn, her brother Cade and her sisters Alexandra and Addison; her grandparents Tom and Brenda Hayden of Auburn and Olivia and John Huffman of Ventura, Calif., numerous cousins, aunts and uncles and countless friends. Then there are those whose lives she impacted during her courageous battle.
A Celebration of Life for Avery will be held on Saturday, February 27th at 3 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Auburn, Wash.
