One of our most cherished memories of Dad is hearing him share why he chose to pursue Biblical and Theological studies. He often told us about a pivotal moment from his childhood—when his own father was sick and bedridden. As a boy, Dad dreamed of becoming a doctor, hoping to help his father and others who were suffering.
We would ask him why he didn’t follow that path, and he’d smile and say that while medicine could heal the body, preaching the Gospel could heal the soul. He believed it was more rewarding to lead people to Christ than to treat physical ailments. “I’d rather lead souls to heaven,” he would say, “by preaching the Word.”
As you can see in these photos, Dad was always serious about his calling—and always sharply dressed! Over the years, he served faithfully as a minister, pastoring churches both in the United States and in American Samoa.
Through every season—through challenges and triumphs—Dad remained steadfast in his service to the Lord. He preached, he prayed, and he shepherded others with a heart full of love and conviction until the day he was called home.
