She was married to the love of her life, Willie R. Chapman for 41 years. They had 4 sons, Pherris, Gregory, Joey, and Reginald.
Augustine loved the Lord and faithfully attended church, Sunday School, and Bible Study. She attended many churches in the community, and was active at Grace Gospel Chapel and Faith Gospel. She was known for her beautiful suits and fancy hats that she wore to each service. She was an active volunteer, including singing in the choir, serving on the hospitality committees, cooking for the annual church picnics, and much more.
She was an active member of the Gold Star Wives following her husbands passing in 1996. She was a proud member of the Alumni Association at Lecompte High School and faithfully looked forward to attending her class reunions.
Augustine was employed by Madigan Hospital Food Services as a cook where she was fondly known as “”, and she received several awards and accolades during her time there. She also volunteered at the VA hospital for many years.
She was a fantastic cook. Her friends and family frequently enjoyed her delicious ribs, gumbo, greens, peach cobbler, banana pudding, and the amazing Thanksgiving Feast that she cooked every year.
Augustine loved sports, and rarely missed watching a Seahawks or Mariners game on TV. Additional favorite teams included the Saints and the Cowboys.
She loved her flowers, and she decorated the outside of her house with several beautiful hanging baskets and pots of flowers each summer. Every Christmas her yard was elaborately decorated with the Nativity Scene and lighted reindeers in the front yard.
Augustine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Willie, son Joey, sister Nancy Edna, brothers David Jr., William, Raymond, and James (Jimmie), daughter in law Chris.
She will be dearly missed by her surviving sons, daughter in law, Kim, sisters Betty Jo, Virginia, and Denise; grandchildren Spencer, Tristan, Joseph, Gregory Jr., Joshua, Cameron, and Jerrel; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, former classmates and many friends. They will continue to be comforted by the cherished memories they have of their time and phone calls with her.
