Asberry Croskey, Jr.'s Obituary
Asberry Croskey, Jr. was one of eighteen children born June 16, 1931 to the last Pastor Asberry and Fannie Mae Croskey in Ft. Deposit, Alabama. His family migrated to Birmingham, Alabama where he worked construction with his father and helped build his father's church and family homes.
Asberry Croskey Jr., grew tired and left this earth on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 after making his 79th birthday, and one more father's day!! Thank you dad.
After working construction for his father, he went on to serve in the military, where he served in the Korean War, and received medals of Honor for service. He also served in the US, Japan and China.
He married Imogene Steele in March 1952, and migrated to Tacoma Washington in 1956 with their three sons.
Asberry worked at the Fort Lewis Laundry for 36 years, where he retired in 1989. He was remarried in 1985 to Kameyo Turner.
Asberry is survived by his wife; seven children - Elsberry (Tacoma); Kenneth (Southfield, MI); Mark (Hanford CA); Cheryl Chapman (Kent); Jacquelyn Heyer (Tacoma); Douglas (Atlanta, GA); and Kristi Croskey (Tacoma); 20 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Asberry's passion and love was cooking, fishing, bowling, and baseball where he attended his last Mariners game a year ago.
