Arthur Leroy Massey's Obituary
Arthur Leroy Massey, age 85 passed away peacefully on July 14, 2021 after a full and complete life. Arthur is survived by this wife of 60 years Mary Ann Massey and his children David and Michelle (wife) Massey, Carolyn and Rick (husband) Smart and Richard “Dean” Massey.
Arthur was born in Alameda, California in 1935 to Cornelius Floyd and Dorothy Massey and graduated from Yelm High School in 1953. He served his county first in the Navy and then in the Army as a field communications specialist, leaving with an honorable discharge in September 1961. Arthur worked for the phone company starting with Pacific Northwest Bell which eventually became part of CenturyLink. He had many positions over the years finally retiring in 1990 as an installation supervisor. He enjoyed gardening, camping, square dancing, golfing, and wood carving. Arthur was an avid fisherman and spent many years fishing with his friends and family. He was a boy scout leader and a member of several organizations. He and his wife enjoyed taking cruises and being snowbirds traveling between Washington and Arizona. Arthur along with his wife were founding members and faithful attenders of Parkway Presbyterian Church. He made many lifelong friends and will be missed by many.
Arthur will be laid to rest at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Gig Harbor during a private family gathering.
There will be a memorial on August 21, 2021 10:00 am at Parkway Presbyterian church, 714 138th St E, Tacoma, WA 98445 with a reception for follow.
