Arne Campbell's Obituary
Arne Mindor Kjemphol (Campbell) was born in Sykkylven, Norway on September 19, 1920. He immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 7 and the family settled in Tacoma, WA. Arne graduated from Lincoln High School and served in WWII as a ski trooper and parachutist in the ArmyÂ's 10th Mountain Division. As part of his duties, Arne became a personal guard for General Dwight D. Eisenhower and traveled in France with the General during the war. Arne lost his left leg to a stray bullet and returned home as an amputee. At Fort Lewis, Tacoma, WA, Arne married Shirley Mae Stordahl in August 16, 1947. Together they had three children, Linda Louise, Ronald Frederick, and Marie Joanne and lived in University Place, WA. Arne work as a federal court reporter at Fort Lewis until he retired in 1973. During retirement, he lived in Puyallup, WA during summers and Indio, CA during winters. He loved to fish, golf, pitch horseshoes and play cards. Arne is survived by his sister, Gerda Lovise Shull, his brother, Marvin James Campbell, his three children, Linda Utter, Ron Campbell, and Marie (Tina) Needy, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.Memorial services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday April 8th 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel, Lakewood, WA.
