ARLYNE MAESNER
Arlyne Ione Maesner, aged 91, died peacefully and surrounded by family on March 17, 2015 in her home at Bridgeport Place, where she was supported by a wonderfully caring staff over the last several years. Arlyne was born on April 13, 1923 in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Verner and Ella Johnson. She was an alumnus of Stadium High School and Pacific Lutheran College. Following college and after the end of the War, Arlyne married Edward Maesner on June 12, 1949, with whom she was able to celebrate their golden anniversary. Arlyne was a teacher of both intermediate and special education, finishing her career in the Clover Park School District. In retirement, Arlyne led a fully involved life in quilting and needlepoint, traveling, volunteering with her husband at Tacoma General Hospital, and spending time with friends, children, grandchildren, and her extended family. Deeply committed to her faith, Arlyne was a member of First Lutheran Church of Tacoma, and then following her marriage, Calvary Baptist Church and, later as a founding member of Olympic View Baptist Church in University Place.
Arlyne is survived by her children Nancy (Steve) Bagley, Barbara (Steve) Ruff, Patricia (Phillip) Rowland and Jon Maesner. Arlyne was blessed to have 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Marion Larson, and several nieces and nephews, including Janice (Bob) Thomas, who also provided special care and support. She is preceded in death by her husband Ed, grandson Jacob Bagley, and daughter-in-law Ann Maesner.
Funeral services and internment will be on March 27, 2015 at the Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington.
