Arline Carder's Obituary
Arline E. Carder Died at 94 on December 7, 2011 in Puyallup, WA. Born on November 10, 1917 in Guttenberg, IA to Raymond and Alma Harvey, Arline moved west with her family to Stanford, MT, then Portland, OR, where she graduated from Franklin HS. There she married Jack F. Ryan and started a family, Dick and Terry. Then moved to Tillamook, OR and a third son, Jim. From there the family moved to Lakewood, WA, where Mom worked at Penny Wise Drug Store in South Tacoma and J C Penny in Lakewood. Following the divorce from Jack Ryan, Arline married Hiram Carder and lived in the Harvey family house in Lakewood till near the end of her life. Arline worked at Fantasy Land, the Tacoma Dome, King Dome for Seahawks and Mariners games, and the Mariners at Safeco Field where she retired at 85. Arline was a member of Lewis Chapter Eastern Star (past Matron), Daughters of the Nile (Chorus), Ladies' Oriental Shrine (Clowns), and St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Arline was preceded in death by her parents Raymond C. and Alma W. Harvey, brother Raymond S. Harvey, husband Jack F. Ryan, and husband Hiram (Pete) S. Carder. Arline is survived by her three loving sons, Richard J. (Anita) Ryan, Terry S. (Nelda) Ryan, and James R. (Lori) Ryan; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499, followed by a reception in the Oak Room. Memorial gifts may be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
