Arlene McFarland

Arlene Jewel McFarland passed away peacefully in her sleep April 3, 2015.
Arlene was born in Moorehead, Minnesota on July 20, 1931 to John and Mabel Quam. After making the journey to Washington with her family, she graduated valedictorian in 1949 from Clover Park High School. Shortly after, she married Leslie McFarland and together they co-founded the Christian Youth Center in 1959. This after school Children’s Bible Club spanned many decades and touched many lives.
Arlene is remembered for her love of the Lord, ministry of prayer and her many flower arrangements from her garden.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leslie, and son Daniel.
She is survived by daughter Donna, son-in-law Jonathan Lapham, daughter-in-law Susan McFarland and grandchildren Justin and Christopher McFarland.
A special thanks to her niece Gail Hellander, great nice Leah Canterbury and husband Rick, and to the staff of Kings Manor for their compassionate care of Arlene.
A Celebration of Life will be held April 10, 2015 at 2pm in the Garden Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, Washington, with refreshments to follow.
