Arlen Dale Cavin's Obituary
Dad was born in Pueblo, Colorado to A. D. and Nell Cavin. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Sharon Lorraine.He was a retired Army officer, serving in Korea with the 5th Ranger Co. Infantry (Airborne), then in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group (Green Berets). His family was very proud of his military service.Dad went on to earn a BA in business and Public Administration at the University of Puget Sound. He enjoyed traveling, singing and performing with the Memory Singers. His favorite entertainer was Sammy Davis Jr. He was also a member of the Elks Post 174. Dad was passionate about politics and world affairs. He often said it was his Catholic faith and beliefs that carried him through difficult times in his life.A warrior in life, a warrior in death. He had courage and dignity unsurpassed.Dad, you will be missed dearly. Your loving familySurvivors include sister Colleen Estep of Florida, former wife Maria Cavin of Lakewood, sons A. D. Cavin III of Lakewood and Steven P. Cavin of California, daughters Sharlene Moats of Florida and Susan Thompkins of Tacoma, in addition to numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Viewing will be from 12:00 to 9:00 PM on Monday, July 10, 2006 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 12:10 PM on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at St. LeoÂ's Catholic Church, 710 S. 13th Street, Tacoma, WA. Graveside services with military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
