I grew up living next door to Arleen and Dale Nelson. She was the mom that would help with the Kool-Aid stand, or would patch up a scraped knee. She taught respect and had an open door policy to her house that resonated respect to everyone who entered. It is hard to fathom she is not presiding over 96th and D street. She was always there. I especially enjoyed visiting her as an adult, when all could be appreciated as to what she stood for. To all of the Nelson family, I, as do all of the Slater family, offer our sincerest condolences. We all grew up knowing her. To Mr. Dale Nelson, I thank you for asking such a great woman to be your wife! It won't be the same without her.
