Arleen Melva Minshall's Obituary
Arleen M. Minshall, born in Tacoma, WA on November 30, 1929 and passed away peacefully in Shelton, WA May 29, 2019 at 89.5 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben Raymond Minshall (1988) and their son, Ben Raymond Minshall Jr. (2013).
Arleen is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Arleen (Richard) Sponberg (Shelton, WA) and her loving son, David Alan (Kay) Minshall (Marlow, OK). She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren, and 26 great-great grandchildren.
Arleen, her husband Ben, her daughter Linda, and her granddaughter Shawna all worked at Boeing for 20-30 years each. She was very proud of that, and that she and her husband both had pilot licenses and flew small planes. They both loved to travel (Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico). They were snowbirds and loved Arizona. They loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping.
Arleen loved golf and she watched it on TV better than playing on the golf course. She bowled in a league, loved sketching, painting oil and water color and ceramics. She was also an avid Seahawks fan.
Arleen was a proud lifetime AMVETS member, was a member of Eagles, and moose where she played darts and shuffleboard.
Mom absolutely loved playing 10,000 and a bowling dice game with her daughter regularly. She was so happy the week after Mother’s Day when several family members flew in from several states or drove a long way to visit. We all played these games and she still won most of them. She talked about how special it was. The last time mom and Linda played was on May 25th just four days before she passed. We played 12 games and she won all 12!
The family asked that in lieu of flowers please donate to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
