Ardyce "Ardy" Marshall's Obituary
With our hearts full of Love and Gratitude we honor and remember our loving mother Ardyce “Ardy” Marshall, Grandma & Gg. Ardy passed peacefully at her home with family in Olympia WA on Jan 31st 2026 at the age of 90.
Ardy was born in Harvey, North Dakota, December 8th 1935. She was the middle child of 5 born to Lawrence and Myrtle Anderson. Ardy grew up in Heimdal ND. Mom always mentioned being able to help clean the big stairs and railing at her grandmothers house, as they housed the teachers, and then how fun it was working at the ice cream shop in town. Her venturous spirit with her friend Lois, after graduation, headed off to Chicago for telephone operator jobs that lasted a short time in the big city, it was to much. Uffda! Then off to Tacoma Washington on the train as Lois‘s uncle had jobs for them at Payless Drug store. Then as kind of a blind date, meeting a friend of Lois’s boyfriend she met dad, Ray C. Marshall. Married April of 1958 and off to Juneau Alaska! Dad had a job offer from Bill Cope as a meat cutter. They welcomed 3 children in Juneau and loved their life in Alaska with all the wonderful people they met, many of whom became lifetime friends.
We were truly blessed to have been raised in Juneau, just across the bridge on North Douglas road. They bought a little house on N. Douglas and property next to it and built a new one! Mom was the best mom. Our days were filled with love, outside play on the beach and in the woods, and of course Sunday school on Sunday at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Eagle river picnics too on Sunday afternoons in the summer with family and friends. Mom worked the elections for several years, when the voting booth was across the road at the Riders garage. ( our godparents) She went to work as a checker at Foodland when we were in Jr High and then later Ike’s Fuel. She was there for all of our sports and activities, and always packed the lunches for heading out fishing with dad. She still got adventure in when traveling with sports around SE Ak and BC and more. We practiced our driving permits with mom and dad. She sewed so many fun and wonderful clothes for my sister and I, and some costumes when in the high school musicals, plus Halloween costumes, and then for grand kids too.
Then off to enjoy traveling in their fifth wheel for a few years covering 28 states and decided to settle back down in Olympia in 1989. Dad passed in 1998, to young to early. Mom was very involved with her church, Gloria Dei Lutheran and volunteered, organizing and preparing the Friday meals for Olympia Salvation Army for 20+ years. Her support, her love and faith was always there for anyone. Mom was a blessed beautiful woman that shinned with grace. She was loved by many, and will be missed by many. Her family and friends hold dear her love and memories close.
Ardy is survived by her son, Jon Marshall, and daughter Laurie Marshall. Eight grandchildren - Christopher, Sheryce, Travis, Nicolas, Joshua, Lynnsey, Kassondra, and Marshall. Also blessed with 16 great grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Raymond C. Marshall and her loving daughter Lisa Rae Mcgonegal. Her sister LaVonne, and bothers Don, Andy(Marlyn) and Glenn~
Ardy will rest with Ray again at the Alaskan Memorial Park in Juneau, Ak.
