Ardelle Nielsen's Obituary
Ardelle C. Nielsen passed away on December 31, 2009 at the age of 66. She grew up in Parkland, WA and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. Ardelle worked in the restaurant business, at the Doric Tacoma Motor Hotel and as an owner/operator with her husband Ed Nielsen of Diamond Jim's Restaurant in Tacoma. She was a member of Fircrest Golf and Country Club. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an adoring grandmother and seldom missed a special occasion, school activity, or sporting event. She is survived by her children, Tamara (Ron) Basso, Michael (Kate) Kennedy, John Kennedy, Teri (Ken) Jenkins, stepchildren Chris Nielsen and Linda (Tony) Campanale, and grandchildren Jenna, Joshua, Joel, Jared, Tianna, Chelsea, Ashley, Thomas, and Jordana, one great-grandchild, and sister Judith (Eddie) Root. Her niece Ronda Root and cousin Kathy Speights held a very special place in Ardelle's heart. She will be missed by many family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Helen Smith, husbands Ed Nielsen and Tom Kennedy, and grandson Zachary Kennedy. Viewing will be from 1:00-9:00 PM on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Mountain View Funeral Home, with services held at 10:00 on Thursday, January 7, 2010 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel. Private family burial services will be at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.
