Arcelia Hood Raymond's Obituary
Arcelia Mast Hood Raymond, was born on August 14, 1918 in Mountain Home, Idaho. She passed away peacefully on March 22, 2010 at Alaska Gardens Health Center. Arcelia was preceded in death by her father Harvey Ceon Hood who was an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad, and mother Nora Zephora Mast Hood, 2 husbands, 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 1 nephew, and cousin David R. Hood. Arcelia is survived by sisters-in-law, Gladys Gumtow, Tacoma; Donna Jean Massoth, Margie Patterson (George); nephew Henley Ray Hood (Sandy) of Yukon, OK; niece Sylvia Rae Hood McGhee (Rickie) of Oklahoma City; and nephew Carl E. Gowey of Ocean Shores, WA Arcelia grew up in Eola Hills near Amity Oregon. She was a LPN and worked many years in Portland and Tacoma. Arcelia married John Archer Browse and move to Tacoma, WA in 1959. Arcelia was remarried for 31 years to Warren Milton "Bud" Raymond. Arcelia is known for her tremendous generosity and wonderful sense of humor. She was a published poet having written hundreds of beautiful, inspirational and humorous poems receiving many special awards. Arcelia volunteered for many years in the Tacoma Public Schools earning the Golden Acorn Award. She was Past President of Veterans of Foreign Wars #969; Past Worthy Matron of Order of Eastern Star, Cedar Chapter #173; Past Chaplain of Rebecca Lodge; member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; Pythian Sisters; Daughter of American Revolution. Arcelia was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Graveside service will be April 1st at 2:30 pm at Mt. View Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 7520 - 25th Ave E., Tacoma Thank you to all those who cared for her while she lived at Peoples Retirement Community and Alaska Gardens Health Center.
