Antonina Glenister's Obituary
With great sadness, we announce the passing of a beautiful wife, mother, and grandmother Antonina Sulietatauai Jacinta Fa'asuamaleaui-Glenister.
Antonina was born on June 8, 1951, in Amaile Aleipata, Samoa, and passed away on June 24, 2020, in Seattle Washington.
Antonina was the daughter of Setefano Vaioletama Fa'asuamaleaui from Amaile Aleipata, Samoa, and Avetonuolemaotafonooalataua Leota-Atiga from Leone, American Samoa. Early in age, she was legally adopted by her paternal grandparents HC Leaupepe To’o Iosefo Vaioletama Fa’asuamaleaui of Amaile Aleipata, Samoa and Fuluiole Rosalia Utugalematemate of Samusu, Samoa. Before her paternal grandparents passed, she was given the option if she would like to stay and be raised with her Fa’asuamaleaui family or would she like to know her mother’s family, the Leota family in Leone, American Samoa. Antonina chose to stay in Amaile and be raised by her father’s brother, her Uncle HC Fa’asuamaleaui Leaupepe Tofa To’o II of Amaile Aleipata, Samoa and Dolorosa Schmidt Aeau Fa’asuamaleaui of Safotu, Samoa in which later they legally adopted her.
Antonina is survived by her husband, Frederick Glenister from Mulifanua, Samoa and their three children; daughter, Annie Jane Fuatino Glenister and her son, Marcus Isaiah Madden; daughter Ursula Maria Leilani Rosa Fa'asuamaleaui-Glenister and her two sons, Darrick Vaioletama Fa'asuamaleaui and Dominick Sydney Fa'asuamaleaui; and only son Frederick Francis Glenister, his wife Jeniffer Andal Glenister, and their two sons, Stephon Reign To’o Glenister and Nicholas Cain Glenister.
Antonina, first and foremost, was dedicated to her family and to the Catholic church. Her strong devotion to the Catholic church included her service as a Eucharistic Minister and a Lector at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, in Watertown, NY. She was a part of the choir, an RCIA sponsor, the Legion of Mary, a Godparent to many, and a Sunday school teacher for the youth. She also volunteered to assist in the prison ministry to spread the word of our Lord, and all his teachings. She even would visit nursing homes with the Legion of Mary children.
She continued her service once moving to the state of Washington at Our Lady Queen of Heaven, as a Eucharist Minister, a Lector, a choir member, a RCIA sponsor, a Godparent, and the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Antonina founded the Our Lady Queen of Heaven Samoan Youth Group in which she was president for a couple of years. Later, she joined the Kitsap County Samoan Community, The Tama Fanau A Leone in Washington, and lastly a member of the St. Peter Chanel Samoan Community.
Antonina worked 27 years for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), holding many positions and responsibilities. Unfortunately, for her medical history, Antonina stepped away from AAFES and took on her greatest role, of being a Grandma.
Her unconditional love for her family, especially her grandchildren shows the kind of woman that she was. From her beautiful smile, funny faces, amazing stories, and her positive advice; she was one of a kind! She was the life of the party, a conversation starter, and the one who would make any awkward moment, a joyous event.
Antonina will be forever missed but never forgotten.
"Children's children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children". - Proverbs 17:6
