Anton Kosina's Obituary
Tony Kosina
Anton "Tony" Kosina, 76, completed his life journey on Sunday, 11-9-2008. He was born 6-24-1932 in Phillips, WI, where he grew up on "the farm" with 5 brothers and sisters. Tony joined the Army as a young man and served in Viet Nam; he was also stationed in Korea and Germany. He retired after 20+ years of service and settled in Tacoma, where he worked another 20+ years for General Metals before really retiring. He was married for 34 years to the love of his life, LaVerne "Toots" Kosina (nee Hansen). They made many dear friends and raised several "spoiled" dogs and cats. Tony was predeceased by his wife LaVerne, parents Anna and Frank Kosina, sisters Mary Ann Walker and Emily Dezort, and two brothers, John and Frank Kosina. He is survived by his "sweetheart" granddaughters Kristi Shuster and Kathryn Resnick (husband Adam), great-grandchildren Jessica, Cody, Violet and Oliver, brother Charlie Kosina (wife Eileen), nephew Frank Dezort (wife Tina), many other nieces and nephews, "daughter-in-love" Debbie Gregerson (husband Don Applebee), sister-in-law Betty Davies, and dear friends "Huck" Huckstadt and Howard Porter. Tony was a proud patriot who loved hunting, fishing, and camping. His passion for gardening was evident in both his flower and vegetable gardens. He loved his trips "back home" to spend time with family in WI. Most of all, he enjoyed pampering his wife and pets. Tony was a wonderful husband, papa, uncle, brother, friend, and neighbor. He leaves fond memories of friendship, love and good humor to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Services will be held Friday, 11-14-2008 at 9:30 am in the Mountain View Aspen Chapel in Tacoma, with a brunch reception following. (Viewing 11-13-2008 from 2-9 pm.) Procession to Tahoma National Cemetery will leave at 12:15 pm for military honors at the graveside.
