Anthony Pua Silva's Obituary
Anthony Pua Silva
“Papa Tony”
Tony passed away on Tuesday, 16 June 2020 with his wife Charlotte at his bedside.
He was born in Ho’olehua, Molokai, Territory of Hawaii, to Theodore, “Ted” Silva, Jr. and Theresa “Nola” Leimamo Neumann Hussey.
Tony and Charlotte raised 4 sons together.
Tony was a proud and loving “Papa” to 7 Grandsons, 5 Granddaughters and 1 very precious great-granddaughter “Ella”
He loved taking them all to the park to play tennis, basketball, swimming, and riding bikes. He loved reading books and when not riding his own bike, you could always find Tony partaking of this favorite pass time: sitting in the sun in his favorite lawn chair, reading or taking a nap.
Tony was a proud Vietnam Veteran having served (1967 – 1973) as a medical corpsman and earning Silver and Bronze Star medals on 27 December 1968 for bravery under enemy fire during a firefight northwest of An Loc, Vietnam.
Tony worked in CMS at the Seattle VA Hospital for a year and then in 1988 he went to Saudi Arabia working as a medical supply technician training the Saudi Arabian National Guard to order and maintain medical supplies for 4 years. He returned to Washington State and worked for Civil Service at Madigan Army Medical Center in CMS and pathology services before becoming disabled in December 2001.
Tony is survived by his wife, Charlotte of 36 years, 4 sons; Paul Dean Singleton, Colin (Dina), Richard, and Tom Kelly Jr. (Kim), 3 brothers, Kai (Donna) of Auburn, Nui and Ben of California, his grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.
Tony was preceded by his parents, Ted and Nola and his sister Kehau.
No services are planned. His wish was for his ashes to be taken home to Hawaii at a future date.
