Anthony Ogo Nwankolo's Obituary
Anthony Ogobuegwu Nwankolo (TONEE) was born on 27th May, 1968 into the family of Ogbuenyi (Sir) William Enebanmo Nwankolo (KSM) and Lady Janet Ekwuyazia Nwankolo (LSM) as their 10th child in the family of 12 children. He was a very bright and vibrant child and had a passion for military life/uniform as a child, always claiming he wanted to be a Military Police which earned him the nickname “MP” until he became an adult. He was a very astute and fearless child that would stand his grounds under any circumstances. A very lovable, bright and intelligent child indeed that always made his parents and family proud in all his undertakings. His life story reflects resilience, self-discipline and commitment to excellence that shaped his future.
EDUCATION
He began his formal education in Illah where he completed his primary and secondary while developing both academically and personally. His passion for learning and professional excellence led him to pursue higher education, like his father who became a London-trained graduate of Agriculture.
Tonee obtained two Master’s Degree in Business Administration and International Law which equipped him with the strong analytical, managerial and leadership skills that shaped the course of his professional journey.
“MP” as he was fondly called, was a very intelligent and bright student throughout his academic pursuits which shot him to fast and great heights in his future working career.
CAREER
Tonee was posted to Lagos for his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), thereafter he embarked on a very successful career in the Nigerian banking sector. Working in various banks in Lagos he quickly distinguished himself through dedication, competence and strong work ethics. His performance enabled him to rise rapidly through the ranks, ultimately attaining the position of General Manager. In the competitive banking landscape in Lagos, where demands were high and expectations even higher, he demonstrated integrity, reliability, empathy, discipline and focus that set him apart. His consistent performance, innovative mindset and ability to inspire teamwork fueled his very rapid rise through the ranks, a milestone that symbolized his dedication and excellence.
Throughout his career, Tonee was recognized for his commitment to excellence, professionalism and steady progression, navigating three different reputable banks, that marked his enviable rise.
INFLUENCES AND IMPACT
Tonee was highly influenced by mentors, family values and determination to create opportunities for those around him. His impact extended beyond staff, organizational growth, family, relations to friends and all contacts. He guided, upheld standards and nurtured a positive drive in all who had the privilege to encounter him. He was a born leader and champion.
FAMILY LIFE
He was a loving and dedicated father to his family and children whom he loved with great passion. Got married to Bridget in Lagos, Nigeria. The union was blessed with three beautiful children: Owen, Kimberly,
Trevor. He had risen to a very enviable height in the banking industry in Lagos before the family decided to relocate to UK for better educational exposure for their children. Having spent some years in UK, the family decided to further move on to USA in 2013 with their children for greener exposure, where they are currently residing.
The sudden and unexpected news in early December 2025 of his quiet passing to great eternity in his sleep, was a rude shock the entire family is still battling to come to terms with. As Christians and with total submission to the will of GOD, we are not giving up hope of a reunion in eternity.
HOBBIES AND PERSONAL INTERESTS
Tonee was a great lover of sports, driving, socializing and relaxation with family when not busy. He loved helping people in need and had touched many lives in his hay days. His legacy and inspiration were huge for his age.
