Annie Frances Conklin's Obituary
Annie Frances Conklin
Our Mom was born in Okanagan, Washington and was raised in Omak by her parents Howard and Annie Jones. She had one brother. When Mom was a teen the family moved to the Tacoma area. She attended Stadium High School where she met our Dad. They married in 1943 and Dad went off to war. Upon his return they began to raise their family in Tacoma’s North End and never moved from that area.
Mom was a home maker and raised four children, Jim (Eva), Irene, Mary Ann (Mike) and John (Jackie). She was also a small business owner, in partnership with our Dad. They owned the Mobil station at the bottom of the 11th Street bridge for many years and all members of our family worked there through our teen years.
Mom’s service to the community continued when she became a member of Eastern Star. Her beautiful ability to sew lavish dresses, doll clothes, quilts, and embroider allowed her to contribute to many charities over the years. She served as Worthy Matron in Cedar Chapter #173, and became a Deputy Instructor in 1989. Her smile was infectious and she made many friends.
She and Dad served on their Stadium Class Reunion for many years and Mom never forgot her roots, having forever friends in Omak where a class reunion took place every few years.
Mom is survived by her children, her Grandchildren, James, Andy, Chris, Maggie, Kristine, Ryan, Andrea, Rory and Kelsey, great-grandchildren, Courtney, Vicktoria, Henry, Adam, and great-great grandchildren RJ and Kyran, Frances and Faye. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She loved every one of her family unconditionally.
Mom was preceded in death by husband Jim, Son-in-law Gary, Brother Howard and Grandson Tim, and many lifetime friends. We are sure they were waiting for her at the gates of Heaven with a deck of pinochle cards and a sewing kit.
We will say goodbye to our Mom on Monday, March 18, 2019, 12 Noon in the Aspen Chapel, Celebration of Life Center building at Mountain View Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Lakewood. Reception to follow in the Oak Room.
