Annie Velma Bruce's Obituary
Annie Velma Bruce Dec. 14, '28 - Apr. 8, '16 Annie Velma was born December 14, 1928 to Robert and Daisy Campbell Bean, at the St. Helena Parish in Greensburg, LA. At the age of twelve, Annie relocated to Washington State to live with her older brother, Lee Bean. She joined and accepted Christ at Allen AME Church in Tacoma, WA. The call to service was Annie's mission in life. She served in her church for over 70 years. Annie graduated from Lincoln High School and received her BA degree in Education from the University of Puget Sound. She taught in the Tacoma Public School District (#10) for over forty years. Annie loved teaching Kindergarten children. Annie was very active in the community. She was a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, the Matron's club, the Eastern Stars, the American Legion, and the Martin Luther King Progressive Women's Club. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Milton Bruce, and her youngest son, Jeffrey Wayne Bruce; Annie is survived by her children, Robert, Linda (Mr. Carol), Glynis (James), Carvedia, (Robert Martin, former son-in-law); her sister Rebecca Thomas. Viewing: Thursday, April 14th from 1pm to 6pm. at Mountain View. Service: 11am, Friday, April 15th at Allen AME Church, 1223 Martin Luther King Way. Interment following at Mountain View.
