June 28th, 1924 - February 19th, 2025
"Always be the better person."
With hearts full of love and memories brimming with joy, we celebrate the beautiful life of Anne Margaret Nelson, a resilient and empathetic woman who always found humor in life.
Born on June 28th, 1924, in Harwood, North Dakota, Anne's journey was nothing short of extraordinary. Her curiosity and optimism led her on adventures near and far, embracing outdoor activities, travel, and music with boundless enthusiasm.
In the mid-1960s through the '70s, Anne showcased her passion for fashion as a retail professional at JCPenney and the local boutique Village Apparel. Always impeccably dressed, she stayed ahead of the latest trends, embodying style and grace. In the late 1970s, she embarked on a new path as an educator with Tacoma Public Schools, dedicating herself to nurturing young minds.
Anne's home was a haven filled with the melodies of music, playing throughout the day. She cherished visiting her children's homes to watch YouTube music videos together, embracing new ways to connect and share laughter. Never one to shy away from fun, she "never met a martini she didn't like," a playful nod to her zest for life.
Family was the heart of Anne's world. Alongside her husband of over 60 years she lovingly hosted Thanksgiving celebrations for the extended family and threw incredible New Year's parties that became cherished traditions. Active in the Boys' Club and involved with the Daffodil Organization and various lodge organizations, Anne enriched her community with her compassionate spirit. Boating, spontaneous travels, and embracing the great outdoors were regular fixtures in her vibrant life.
Anne is survived by her loving son Bill Nelson and his wife Linda Nelson; her cherished daughter Paula Radloff and her husband Pete Radloff; her adored grandchildren Lauren Nelson, Kathryn Nelson, Alex Nelson, Marinna Radloff, Hagen Radloff; her great granddaughter, Hazel; her dear sister Bertha Stangland; and her brother Nick Olerud. She was reunited in passing with her beloved husband, William Nelson Sr.
Her favorite sayings—"Uffda!", "No Regrets.", and "Always be the better person."—reflect a life lived with joy, resilience, and unwavering kindness. Anne's legacy of compassion, loyalty, and humor continues to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
As we remember Anne, let us celebrate her beautiful life filled with laughter, love, and countless joyful moments. Her optimistic spirit and hardworking nature will forever light our paths.
