Anna Rita Collet's Obituary
Annie passed away from this life to her heavenly home, Wednesday, in the early
morning, on December 26,2018, from lung cancer. She went peacefully at the
hospital with two children present. She walks with Jesus now. She was 88 years old.
Annie was born December 20, 1930 in Bay St. Louis, MS to Charles Schutt and Isabel
Phillips Schutt. She had 5 siblings; Stella, Florence, James, Richard, and Charles. They
grew up in Guatemala City, Guatemala next to a golf course, and the family
developed a love of golf. Annie's mom died when she was 11 years old and her
father when she was 14 years old. Her older siblings helped to raise her and her
younger brother. At age 17 she moved to Connecticut with her older sister Stella
and family.
As a young woman she attended San Francisco City College aspiring to become a
registered nurse. Annie lived and worked in San Francisco where she eventually met
her husband, Art Collet. Art was a senior prison guard, and they lived on Alcatraz
Island from 1959 until it closed in 1963. Art was transferred to McNeil Island in WA
State. Annie was a homemaker primarily, then returned to work for 5 years as a
medical transcriptionist at Madigan Medical Center before retiring.
Annie's talent was the gift of music. She could play any instrument by ear. She played
the guitar and piano with skill. She and Arthur had 4 children, Julianne, Phillip,
Christine, and Rita. Annie loved traveling and enjoyed being a part of the Officers
Club on Alcatraz. She and Art enjoyed 53 years of marriage together. She was a
beloved wife, mother, grandma and great grandma. She is survived by her children,
Julianne (Jeff), Phillip (Carla), Christine, and Rita. Also, her grandchildren, Jacalyn,
Jillian, Jordan and great grand kids Kirra, Titus, Isabel, Adrian, and Steven.
A Memorial Mass in her honor will be held at St Frances Cabrini on Friday, Jan 11,
2019, at 11am with reception following at the parish.
