Ann Witser's Obituary
Ann died peacefully at age 94 on June 30, 2006 in Tacoma, her lifelong home. Her husband, Charles, a well-known building contractor, died in 1970. During World War II she became one of the many women who worked in factories to support the war effort. After the war she worked for many years with the Internal Revenue Service in its Tacoma office. Ann was an avid gardener and always made certain that she had a beautiful garden wherever she lived in Tacoma. After her retirement she traveled frequently to many parts of the world, her most exciting trip being one to Norway with her immediate family, where she was reunited with relatives of her mother and father. She was the oldest daughter of Marie and Christopher Lund and sister to the late Walter Lund, Clarence Lund, and Esther Peterson. Ann leaves a son, Robert and wife Sharon, granddaughter Lynn, grandson Kenneth, grandson Steven and wife Marta, nieces Julie Johanson, Ethel Dittman, Darlene Berry and husband Jim, Joann Graham, Bethany Metkovich and husband George, Sharon Shull and husband Raymond, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She also leaves a host of friends, many of them members of the Portland Avenue Evangelical Free Church, of which she was a member. Ann led an exemplary Christian life. The family wishes to thank the staff of Heartwood Extended Care for the gentle and loving care she received for the last year of her life.There will be a private burial. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 7, 2006 at the Mountain View Garden Chapel.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
