Ann H. Westendorf's Obituary
Ann Westendorf was born on July 27th, 1923 in Kelso, WA. She passed away on April 5th, 2022 in Shoreline, WA at the age of 98. Ann spent her early adult years in the Kelso area. She met Robert Westendorf at a USO ball in 1946, where he walked her home after the dance. They married three months after and later moved to Tacoma, WA for the next 60 years.
Ann’s bakery skills were well known to her family and friends (and their waistlines). Notably her pies, breads, and cookies that she generously prepared before family gatherings. She had a positive outlook on life and her family will miss her infectious laugh and kind spirit.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Robert, brothers: Donald Vahala, Reino Vahala, Ernest Vahala; and sisters: Bertha Halvorson, Toini Niemi, and Hilda Wolfe.
Ann is survived by her sister Minerva Christison of Kelso, WA, daughter Diane Heron (Michael) of Hansville, WA and son Phil Westendorf (Mary) of Bakersfield, CA; five grandchildren: Lyndsey (Justy), Lauren (Brian), Pamela (John), Samuel (Ariel), and Anne (Amy) and seven great grandchildren: McCoy, Rowen, Callahan, Lennon, Banks, Nico, and Luca.
We want to acknowledge the exceptional care she received at the Cristwood Community of Crista Senior Living and from the Providence Hospice Team.
Her memory will be honored on Saturday 4/30/22 at 1pm at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA.
