Ann Tomlinson's Obituary
Annabeth -Å"Ann- Tomlinson, 76, of Lakewood passed away unexpectedly in her home on Monday, September 17th, 2012.
Ann was born in Orem, Utah on January 21st, 1936 to Harold and Eva (York) Johnson. Ann was the 7th of 9 children. (Earl, Leo, Bernice, Sterling, LaRue, Arva, Ann, Glade, and Byron).
She married her her high school sweetheart, Gary Tomlinson, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on March 9, 1956. Daughter Leanne was born in 1957 while Gary was attending Idaho State University in Pocatello.
After graduation, Gary joined the Army and they traveled the world throughout his military career. Daughter Sue was born while they were stationed at Fort Benning, GA in 1961 and son Thomas was born while they were stationed in Frankfurt, Germany in 1963. They retired from military service while stationed at Fort Lewis, WA in 1980. They then settled in the Lakewood area.
Ann worked as a school librarian and secretary for many years before retiring from LDS Family Services in Renton, WA in 2001. She lived a life of service to her family, church and community, touching countless lives along the way.
Ann's heart of gold and capacity to love were unsurpassed. She opened her home to anyone in need and always made sure she cooked enough food for an Army, even when the Army didn't come. Ann was a gifted poet and wrote poems for her family members who have passed before her and her grandchildren's baptisms. Granddaughter, Kira has inherited that gift, which brought great pleasure to Ann.
