Anita Pakele Knight's Obituary
Anita Pakele KnightAnita was born in Hilo, Hawaii in 1922 to Peter and Foncay Pakele, the only girl of 6 children. She passed away on March 14, 2003.While attending the College of San Francisco, she was a member of a prestigious hula dance troupe, touring the mainland during the summers. After graduating she returned to Hilo High School as the girls' PE teacher and counselor. Anita married Andy Knight in Hilo in 1946; they returned to live in Tacoma in 1953. She started her career with the Clover Park School District in 1963 at Hillside Elementary School, an accomplished career that she ended as a counselor at Hudtloff Junior High in 1986. Anita took the greatest pride in her children: Ken, Luana Welch (Bill Rossman), Patty, Alana Dunn, Laurie and Pete (Rhonda); her grandchildren: Megan, Shannon, Amy, Katie, Michael, Jessica, Jonathan, Kara, Jennifer, Andy and Brandon. She is also survived by her brother Phil Pakele (Blanche) and her dearest friend, Jayne Desherlia. We learned so much from you: that family is the number one priority, including all of those who called you "Mom Two"; that music and dance can be your poetry; to stick a geranium in your hat and be happy; the real power of love, compassion and understanding; goodbye is only until you can say the next hello; and a party can't be a party without spinach dip. Mom, we feel so grateful to have had you in our lives. Goodbye, then, until we can say our next hello. We will continue to make you proud. Remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society, or to your favorite children's charity. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 from 1 PM Â- 9 PM. A memorial service will be at 1 PM on Thursday, March 20, 2003 in the MT. View Garden Chapel
