Anita K. Champ's Obituary
In Loving Memory
Mrs. Anita Champ, daughter of Henry and Helen Wegener, was born in Chinook, MT and passed peacefully at her daughter's home in Olympia, WA. She lived in Tacoma most of her life. After attending Franklin Elementary School and Jason Lee Jr. High, she graduated from Stadium High School (1936) and the University of Puget Sound (1941). She retired from the Tacoma School District after working for many of years in elementary education. As a teacher she taught first graders how to read and as school librarian all students how to enjoy the library. An avid reader, she enjoyed a good mystery, and later in life she liked the challenge found in word puzzle books She loved her feline friends and her family. Married for over 60 years, her husband Stanley G. Champ preceded her in passing (2002). She will be missed by daughters Susan Lay, Cailin McCoinnath; grandchildren Lisa (Monte) Gibbs, Kevin (Angela) Whalen, Joshua (Laura) Szurszewski and great grandson Jeremiah Szurszewski.
