Anita Bori's Obituary
Anita Gervacio Bori was born on September 23, 1929 and passed peacefully in her sleep on March 18, 2011. She was the youngest of 10 children born to Paulina and Roman Gervacio. Having survived the Japanese invasion of her native Philippines during the Second World War she married Sinfroso Bori on May 15, 1954. They remained together for 48 years until his passing in 2002. They moved often in their early years as he served his country as a career member of the U.S. Army. They had a son, Arthuro in 1955. After living in Okinawa, The Philippines, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California, and Fort Lewis they eventually settled in Lakewood, Washington in a home she was to occupy for 45 years. She retired from the AAFES warehouse at the Fort Lewis Logistics Center. In her retirement, she and her husband enjoyed travelling with trips back to the Philippines, vacations to Las Vegas, Reno, the Smokey Mountains, and numerous Caribbean cruises. She enjoyed, and was excellent at, crochet having created hundreds of bedspreads, table coverings, curtains, and other items. She loved to dance and also had a wonderful singing voice (unlike her tone-deaf husband and son). She was a devoted member of the St. Francis Cabrini Church and her faith gave her comfort and direction.
Anita is survived her son, Art and daughter-in-law Wendy, her sister Crispina, and numerous nephews, nieces and their children. A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 24th from 3pm to 8:30pm. Her funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Cabrini Church in Lakewood on Friday, March 25th at 11am. The graveside service and reception will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park.
