Amzie L. Woodruff's Obituary
Rev. Amzie Lee Woodruff, 77 Reverend Amzie Lee Woodruff was surrounded by his family as he made his final journey home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2008. Born April 8, 1930 in Woodruff, SC, Reverend Amzie Lee Woodruff died peacefully at his home in Tacoma, Washington. A funeral service will be held Monday, March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 4818 East Portland Avenue, Tacoma, Washington, where he was ordained on February 25, 2005 and served as an associate minister. The viewing will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home - Saturday, March 1st from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Rev. Woodruff was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA in the 1960s and served two tours in Vietnam. After his discharge, he worked for the U.S Postal service and retired after 20 years. On June 29, 2002, at the tender age of seventy-one years young Amzie received a Master's Degree from Faith Evangelical Lutheran Seminary in Theological Studies. He enjoyed special times with his wife, Connie, with whom they would be sharing forty-nine years of marital bliss in March, 2008. He also enjoyed sports and he was an avid reader-- always striving to enhance his knowledge of the Word of God and sharing his love for the Lord to whomever would listen. He was preceded in death by his mother Florie Woodruff, his brothers William and Roy Woodruff, and sisters Louise Smith and Eloise Pitts. Rev. Woodruff is survived by his wife Connie, his brothers Joe and Dennis Woodruff of SC, sister Barbara McClintock of NC, his children, Scarlett Watts, Larry Woodruff, Audrey Woodruff, Phyllis Bowie (Lance), Sheila Pearson (Arthur), Sidney Woodruff, eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grand-children and many, many loving family and friends. Rev. Woodruff will be missed by everyone he touched.
